ATS 2025 Annual Meetings in Boston, ΜΑ (view poster here)

The Adventist Theological Society invites paper proposals for its annual meetings in Boston, MA, November 18-20, 2025 (Tuesday-Thursday) and Nov 22, 2025 (Sabbath), at Boston Marriot Copley Place.

This year's theme is:

Christian Identity in a New Era: Scripture, Church and Society

In newspapers, rallies, riots and sermons around the world new perspectives of personal and group identity are being shaped, redefined and advocated.

In contrast to expanding imperial and global views in the twentieth century, the development of polarization and itemization in the last few decades have seen political, social, and religious entities increasingly tighten their definition of group belonging.

More significantly for Christians: How does Scripture engage individuals and groups in relation to identity? How does an overarching universal Christian identity play into individual or local identities? To which extent should or should not our cultural context define our approach to Christian identity?

This annual ATS conference primarily seeks papers addressing the topic of Christian identity as a timeless, global principle from the field of Old and New Testament studies, systematic and historical, as well as practical fields of mission and pastoral studies, and related social studies. Alternate topics will also be considered.

Proposals must be in Microsoft Word format and include an abstract (200-300 words) summarizing the main thesis and trajectory of argumentation.

Include in the proposal the paper title, the author's full name, institution, mailing address, and email address.

First time presenters must also submit a complete outline of their paper for review when they submit their proposal.

The Adventist Theological Society affirms a high view of Scripture. Proposals should reflect this perspective.

Submission of a proposal does not guarantee acceptance.

Indicate whether you plan to attend in-person or wish to contribute in virtual modality.
